Applications for MaineHousing's Maine Water Assistance Program are now being accepted. The Maine Water Assistance Program is a limited-time program to assist Maine residents who may have fallen behind or had difficulty paying their drinking water and wastewater bills.  The program provides direct payments to water and sewer utilities on behalf of customers. This program is available to income-qualified Maine households who receive their water through public water or wastewater utilities and have an account in their name. The holiday season is fast approaching and Neighbor for Neighbor applications are available! Waldo County residents who are in need of a box of food for the holidays and/or help with gifts for their children can fill out an application and mail it to the WCAP office. Once an application is filled out, a local organization that provides food and/or gifts will serve your family. It’s back-to-school season, and Waldo Community Action Partners wants to make sure your child kicks off the school year ready to learn! This year Waldo CAP has expanded its annual Backpack and School Supply Program to offer giveaways at sites in Thorndike and Winterport, as well as Belfast. School supplies will be available free of charge to income eligible families living in Waldo County. Backpacks are prepackaged with a wide variety of age-appropriate supplies to accommodate the needs of students enrolled in Pre-K to 12th grade. Waldo Community Action Partners is pleased to sponsor Community Cafés for children and seniors every Thursday from June 23 – August 11. Cafés will be at the Burnham Town Hall from 11am-1pm and the Waldo Pierce Library (Frankfort) from 12-2pm. Meals are an Extension of the USDA’s Summer Food Program for children 18 and under and are focused on bringing seniors and children together for fun activities, companionship, and community building. Waldo Community Action Partners is honored to announce its participation in the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program as a Sponsor of Family Day Care Homes. CACFP is a federal program that provides reimbursements for nutritious meals and snacks to eligible children and adults who are enrolled for care at participating childcare centers, day care homes, and adult day care centers. Funds Available in Waldo County through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program

June 10, 2022, BELFAST, MAINE - The Federal Emergency Management Agency has designated available funding of $26,291 through ARPA-R and $8,511 through Phase 39 to be distributed through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) to organizations who provide emergency food and shelter services in Waldo County. Applications are now open through July 1, 2022. EFSP funds are Federal funds made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
