CACFP Coordinator, Lorey Duprey, promoting Kids Summer Meals Program in 2021.

Waldo Community Action Partners is excited to announce a new initiative that is building off of last year’s Summer Food Service Program for Children – Community Cafés! However, we need your help to make it happen.

Starting the week of June 23rd, we will be hosting ‘Community Cafés’ in a couple sites in Waldo County. Community Cafés will bring together seniors, children and families in communities to help address isolation and promote engagement with neighbors.

This program will last for 8 weeks, with an event happening every Thursday at each site. Food will be free for attendees and there will also be plenty of activities such as lawn games, crafts, low-impact exercise, music, contra dancing, etc.

We are seeking around six volunteers to help make this a success!

Volunteers will assist with:

-Preparing food the day before events at the Vocational Center on Waldo Ave.

-Transporting food to event sites (Burnham, Frankfort, and potentially a third site).

-Handing out food to guests.

-Leading activities during the day.

Food preparation will take 3-4 hours and the events will be a 4-5 hour commitment. Anyone helping with food preparation will be asked to complete an online training for safe food preparation, which is only about an hour long.

If you are interested in helping with any of the above duties, please contact Lorey Duprey at WCAP at lduprey@waldocap.org or call 207-338-6809.

Thank you!
