We'd like to express our sincere gratitude to the community partners and volunteers involved in the Neighbor 4 Neighbor program. This year, the program provided 750 households with Thanksgiving baskets, 943 households with holiday food for the Christmas season and 901 children with gifts. From the fire departments and volunteers who help us deliver holiday food boxes countywide to the many businesses, organizations, and individuals who purchase gifts for kids, this program is truly a community effort. Get ready to get back-to-school with free backpacks and school supplies provided by WCAP! FREE to Mainecare and WIC eligible children ages K-12 who live in Waldo County. The Gardiner giveaway will be Saturday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gardiner Area High School in Gardiner. The Belfast giveaway will be on Saturday, April 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Renys Plaza, where there will also be a representative from Belfast City Drawers, who will offer free bra fittings to students and any adult that brings a student. Waldo Community Action Partners’ Heroes 4 Hunger program has been hard at work planning and fundraising for one of Waldo County’s largest annual collaborative efforts— its Thanksgiving and Christmas Food Box Projects.
