Tell us what Waldo County needs and win!

September 5th, 2017

Get entered into a raffle for a $50 gift card to Hannaford just for telling us what you think Waldo County needs! As part of our Community Needs Assessment, we’re conducting a survey to hear from you on what you think. Take 10-15 minutes to fill it out online and you’ll be given a chance at the end to enter your name into a raffle to win one of two $50 gift cards. Follow the link below to take the survey! As a bonus, if you have a Facebook page, we’ll be adding the names of anyone who likes, comments, and/or shares our Facebook post into a separate drawing for a $25 gift card because it’s very important to us to make sure this survey reaches as many people who live and/or work in Waldo County as possible. You’ll get one entry for every like, comment, or share you make on this post (three entries for doing all three, two entries for doing two, etc.) Don’t forget to fill out the survey too and you’ll also be entered to win a $50 gift card!

This survey and the Community Needs Assessment it is a part of gets distributed across the county and plays a very important role in shaping the types of programs not just WCAP but other local service organizations offer. Let’s see how many people who live and/or work in Waldo County that we can reach!

Boy Scout donates 5 refurbished laptops to WCAP for families in need

June 18th, 2017

Ben Dargon, a student at Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC), decided to combine his love for technology with his desire to do good for the community, by developing an avenue for laptops refurbished by WCTC Computer Careers students to be made available for free to Waldo County families and individuals who aren’t able to afford a computer.

Dargon decided to approach Waldo Community Action Partners about his idea as part of his Eagle Scout project. He and some of his fellow Boy Scouts from Troop #34 dropped off five refurbished Macbook laptops as part of the project. His hope is that WCAP and Waldo County Tech Center will be able to carry on the partnership that he generated in order to continue connecting Waldo County households with low incomes with refurbished laptops in the future.

Laptops will be distributed through WCAP’s Case Management program to individuals in the community with barriers to technology preventing them from excelling in school or obtaining a job.
