WCAP offers both long-term, regular volunteer opportunities and seasonal one-time volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and families. Board of Directors
The WCAP Board of Directors acts as a governing body for all aspects of Waldo Community Action Partners. The Board of Directors reviews Head Start policies, plans, and procedures, provides guidance to program staff, and advocates for low-income individuals in the community.
Volunteer to help transport low-income individuals to their non-emergency medical appointments. Pick up and drop off passengers according to trip assignments. Responsible for vehicle maintenance and safety of passengers. Volunteers are reimbursed $0.44 per mile.
Assist Head Start teachers in the classroom with a variety of activities, such as serving lunch to children and ensuring safety on the playground.
The Head Start Policy Council acts as a governing body for the Head Start program. The Policy Council reviews Head Start policies, plans, and procedures and provides guidance to program staff.
Heroes 4 Hunger
Help pack nearly 36 tons of food for families in need during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Volunteers arrive to the distribution site at 6 a.m. on two specified dates.
Cinderella Project of Maine
Break out your magic wand and volunteer to be a “fairy godmother” at the Cinderella Project of Maine giveaway, usually the first Saturday each April. Volunteers help sort through dresses, act as personal shoppers for high school girls looking for the perfect prom gown, and offer words of encouragement.
