Ben Dargon, a student at Waldo County Technical Center (WCTC), decided to combine his love for technology with his desire to do good for the community, by developing an avenue for laptops refurbished by WCTC Computer Careers students to be made available for free to Waldo County families and individuals who aren’t able to afford a computer.

Dargon decided to approach Waldo Community Action Partners about his idea as part of his Eagle Scout project. He and some of his fellow Boy Scouts from Troop #34 dropped off five refurbished Macbook laptops as part of the project. His hope is that WCAP and Waldo County Tech Center will be able to carry on the partnership that he generated in order to continue connecting Waldo County households with low incomes with refurbished laptops in the future.

Laptops will be distributed through WCAP’s Case Management program to individuals in the community with barriers to technology preventing them from excelling in school or obtaining a job.
