WCAP hires new Resource Developer

February 6th, 2020

Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) is pleased to announce that Dorothy Havey has joined the organization as our new Resource Developer. This is part of a long-range plan to grow and strengthen the organization, which will be celebrating its 55th anniversary later this year.

The Resource Developer’s responsibilities will include planning, implementing, and evaluating development, communications, and public relations opportunities for the organization. WCAP looks to build on current community and organizational strengths with the addition of this position, in order to cultivate the amount of resources available to mid-coast area individuals and families with barriers to economic success.

Dorothy has over 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector with extensive knowledge in finance, fundraising, community development, promotion and constituent services. She has served the local community as past director of Our Town Belfast, the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce, and was the Director of Constituent Services in Waldo County for Senate President Mike Thibodeau. Dorothy has also worked for other mid-coast nonprofits such as the Farnsworth Art Museum, Owls Head Transportation Museum and the Penobscot Marine Museum.

When asked to reflect on past successes in organizational development, Havey recalls her enjoyment having participated in the creation of the Wyeth Center during her time at the Farnsworth Museum. Dorothy continued her passion for building expansion by joining the Facility Development Department at MBNA where she worked for five years. Most recently, Dorothy was employed by the State of Maine Department of Administration and Financial Services where she managed grants for the Department of Labor.

“Our organization is delighted to welcome Dorothy to our team. She brings an extensive background in fundraising, community development, and constituent services which will assist us in meeting our organizational and community goals. She has an energy and enthusiasm for our mission and a demonstrated commitment and dedication to the community we serve which truly lends itself well to the work she will be doing for us,” says Donna Kelley, WCAP’s President & CEO.

Dorothy and her husband, Dave McCurdy, enjoy spending time at their home on Coleman Pond. She is an avid gardener, knitter, and reader as well as kayaker and fisherman. Dorothy currently serves on the Lincolnville Planning Board and Broadband Committee and is member and past president of the Belfast Rotary Club. She is delighted to be working in the Waldo County area again, serving the area she has proudly called home for many years.
